about

Golden Pawn, which I always imagine playing in a rocking chair on the porch and watching the sunset south, is impossible as it comes out. Music affects your mood, leaves you depressed, drugged and probably hooked. attached to those songs played standards that seem so rare or, conversely, strange songs interpreted in an orthodox way. synthesizers, guitars, pianos, vibraphones, samples that slip and melt into mist. and always there, the soundtrack of 'the hired hand', unchanging over time, that will be an influence for good. perhaps the album that Dylan Aycock (Talk West, The Doldrums), Andrew Bones (The Panda Resistance) and Mark Kuykendall (The New Honey Shade) had recorded for the film by Peter Fonda. I can not be objective with 'rolie polie', with its infinite melancholy and that way of braiding melodies reminds me so much Former Selves. nor with the strange 'deccahondricondle', whose guitars proceed at the same rate as those of Fallen Axe, suddenly plunging absolute abstraction and placing them very, very close to those unforgettable underwater seal vinyl Sonoton. 'Golden pond' as the carousel rotates a show where the characters would find refuge Carnivale. but my heart belongs to the song-suite that gives title to the disc, the sweetest, pastoral and film. because you can hear and even see the rusty ñicñic a windmill in the middle of a deserted city. and the notes of a piano. by how smoothly they fit field recordings and elegance with which arrangements involve and make the minutes fly by. everything floats in a hallucinogenic dream, as if they spoke of little extraordinary worlds, wherever they are. one of my favorite albums of spring." - Calm in the Trees
